Girvan turnaround against Ballantrae

GIRVAN Primary School P7s played the second of two friendly games against Ballantrae and managed to turn a heavy defeat in the first leg into a 6-1 win.

Girvan started confidently and after Gregor Brown came close several times Kyle Johnston scored a well-worked goal.

Kyle made it two after a brilliant Paul McDowall cross but Ballantrae pulled a goal back taking the direct route after a long kickout from the goalkeeper.

Gregor then got his name on the scoresheet and Kyle netted for his hat-trick following some skilful play by Connor Irvine.

Ballantrae were more determined in the second half but solid defending from Girvan held tham at bay with keeper Jacob Alison showing a safe pair of hands.

Two late goals from Paul McDowall put the game beyond Ballantrae.

Thanks to Mrs Clark for transport and refreshments and to all parents and families who turned out.

Girvan’s season is now over and best wishes and good luck for the future for all the P7s who will hopefully continue to play for their home town at the Academy.

Next year will see the P6 players from this year step up to become the senior players.
