Impressive win for Girvan under 16s

Girvan Youth Under 16s braved the monsoon weather to inflict an 8-1 thrashing on Barrlieth.

This was a game Girvan dominated from the start and in the opening stages forced a series of corners which were well defended by Barrlieth.

Connor Gracie opened the scoring rattling the ball into the net, then there was an own goal to put Girvan two up.

The Barrlieth keeper was in fine form and very busy pulling off some fantastic saves but he failed to keep out McCulloch’s unstoppable 30 yard screamer.

Frustration was creeping in now resulting in Rice being felled inside the box, Dorans stepping up to slot home the resulting penalty.

Jamie Dorans added another before half time to leave Girvan on easy street.

After the interval Girvan rearranged things and started where they left off with Charlie Holland scoring to keep his comeback going well.

Barrlieth then scored a cracker of their own, another 30 yard thunderous shot that left Ross rooted to the spot.

Girvan pressed more and Gillespie curled a beauty into the top corner, then Rice finished the game off to keep his impressive goal tally going.

Man of the match with another impressive performance was Kyle McCulloch.

Next week Girvan are at home to Ayr Juniors in the quarter finals of the league cup.
