Lynch is winner at Ayr races

Fergal Lynch rode a double at Ayr Racecourse’s last flat meeting of the season on October 8 to win the course’s jockeys’ title for 2015. The talented Irish rider was successful on Swirral Edge for trainer David Brown in Division Two of the Famous Grouse Handicap and then landed the final race on the card, the Caledonia Best Handicap with Call Me Crockett, trained by Iain Jardine and returned at 16/1.

Fergal said : “I really wanted to win the Ayr title – I made my comeback at this track just over a year ago and Jim Goldie has been good to me giving me a lot of winners. My dad and uncle were here today too so that made it special.”

Jim Goldie drew a blank on the day but was still an easy winner of the trainers title having saddle d12 winners at the track this season while Johnnie Delta Racing, whose horses are trained by Jim, retained the owners title.

Keith celebrated his best ever season as a trainer after saddling a double. The Carluke based handler scored with She’s Electric, a 16/1 chance ridden by Tom Queally, in Division 1 of the Famous Grouse Handicap and Tarando, 14/1 and the mount of Joe Fanning, in the Bacardi Handicap.

This took his season’s total to 69 beating his previous best of 67.
