Maybole Juniors Youth Football Club held its annual presentation on Saturday June 7 in Carrick Sports Club.

Special guests were Alice and Sandy Abbot, of Rainbow Services who are the team’s main sponsors; and Robbie McCrorie, 16, Dailly.

Robbie and his brother Ross have recently signed pro forms with Rangers. Both of them also play for Scotland and Ross couldn’t be at the presentation as he had flown out that day to Bosnia with the Scotland under 16 squad.

The two brothers had been in the Scotland team which won the Victory Shield this year beating England 1-0 in the final. Robbie had also been in the under 17 squad which reached the semi-final of the European Championship.

Manager Andy Conkie announced the trophy winners who received their awards from Robbie. They were:

Player of the Year – Fraser Bryden

Players’ Player of the Year – Fraser Bryden

Manager’s Player of the Year – Adam Collins

Best Trainers – George Glasgow and Thomas Cuthbert

Most Improved Player – Euan Hutchison

In a review of the year Andy Collins said, “We feel the season was a success; we’ve made progress; playing some great football at times. There have been no heavy defeats, all close games. Even in some of the games we lost or drew, there was some good football.

“There have been great goals, passes, tackles – some not so good tackles – and some great saves. At the Ayr Tournament recently, we won five out of six of our games, playing some great football and there was a fantastic attitude from the boys during games and never giving up.”

He went on to thank the staff of the Sports Club, Mark McEwan for the disco, Robbie McCrorie, Alice and Sandy Abbot for their continued support since the beginning of the Club, as well as parents and grandparents for their help in donating raffle prizes, supporting the bonus ball and taking the boys to training and games.
