Maybole Juniors returned to winning ways last weekend with a 3-1 win away at Thorniewood.
Peter Leonard’s men started the game on the front foot with Stuart McGrady hitting the post after only six minutes before Andy Stevenson’s effort was saved by the keeper.
Two minutes later Robert Patterson headed wide before Maybole’s pressure finally paid off in the 20th minute when a tremendous kick out from Martin Barclay set up a one on one for Patterson against the opposing full back. Patterson held off two challenges before hitting the top of the net to make it 1-0 to Maybole.
Stevenson missed a glorious chance to make it 2-0 before in first half injury time a delightful cross from McGrady found Davie Cunningham who headed into the net from on the goal line.
Bole continued their dominance in the second half with a shot from McGrady going just wide on 50 minutes before Stevenson had another shot saved by the keeper.
McGrady sealed the three points on 69 minutes as he slotted home from 12 yards.
Thorniewood got a consolation with six minutes to go as their striker latched onto a mistake from Stuart Peacock before slotting past Barclay.
A good three points for Maybole though which sees them in second place in division one, two points behind leaders Pollok.
Next up for them is a home match against Greenock on Saturday (11th) at 2pm and the club were also drawn away to Penicuik Athletic in the Scottish Junior Cup with that tie to be played on Saturday 25th October.
