A Maybole wrestler is preparing to perform in his hometown at the end of this month at the annual Premier British Wrestling Show on Saturday 31 January.

The PBW show has been a hit with fans in the area in the last few years and this year they will be able to cheer on one of their own as Tam “The Ram” McGill gets set to make his full PBW debut.

Tam, who still lives in Maybole made an appearance at PBW’s Academy Attack Three show last month and he has been rewarded for a strong performance that night with a full debut in the Maybole Town Hall ring.

Tam is a product of the PBW academy in Barrhead and is trained by PBW owner Ross Watson and he is set to appear alongside Billy Hall on the night when the pair will tackle experienced PBW wrestlers Saqib Ali and TJ Rage.

Tam is sure to be up against it as Ali and Rage have described the fight as nothing more than a training match.

Other matches for the night that have been announced so far include Kenny Williams against Aaron Echo. Williams has risen fast up the PBW roster after making his debut in 2013 at Maybole but Echo’s size and strength shouldn’t be under estimated in what should be a close contest.

Former PBW champion and current PBW Tag Team champion BT Gunn will also be in Maybole to take on Davy Blaze who aside from his wrestling career also appeared on ITV show Take Me Out last year.

Tickets for a great night of wrestling are priced at only £10 and can be purchased from Simpson’s Bakery in Maybole High Street or online at

Doors on the night open at 7.00pm with the PBW show starting at 7.30pm.

And be sure to keep an eye on and The Carrick Gazette for details of the other matches taking place.
