Over 300 netballers from across Ayrshire (and further afield!) are to play at a unique, charity netball tournament on the pitch at Rugby Park.
The tournament is in aid of the Ayrshire Hospice, Scottish Autism and Scottish Disability Sport and takes place on Saturday 4th June.
Stewarton Ladies Netball will be transforming Kilmarnock FC’s Rugby Park into a giant, open air netball arena on Saturday 4th June when over 300 netballers (32 teams) from across Scotland will descend to play in a unique, charity netball tournament called “Play on the Pitch”.
With netball scheduled to be played across eight specially marked out courts between 10am-5pm, all of the money raised on the day will be shared between three charities close to the hearts of Stewarton Ladies Netball – Ayrshire Hospice, Scottish Disability Sport and Scottish Autism.
And what’s more, to keep supporters, spectators and families entertained there will also be a family fun day from 12-4pm including bouncy castles, water walkerz, sumo wrestling, beat the goalie, giant games and loads more!
Free entry to watch the netball tournament and only £5 for as many rides as you please! So why not get along to this unique event, cheer on your favourite team and have some fun!
One of the event organisers Sharon Kearney explained: “As far as we know, this is the first time anyone has ever attempted something like Play on the Pitch!
“We’ve never heard of a netball tournament being played on a football pitch before and we just can’t wait!
“The support we’ve had for the event has been overwhelming and I’m sure we’re all in for a great day!
“Huge thanks to everyone who has supported, donated or sponsored the netball event so far.
“We couldn’t have done it without you.
“Some tickets are still available for the evening gala dinner and everyone’s welcome - players and spectators alike!”
The tournament will culminate in the evening Gala awards ceremony with dinner, raffle and grand auction in the Park Hotel, Kilmarnock with live entertainment from the fantastic band Solid State. Tickets are £30 each which includes a pre-dinner cocktail, three course meal, awards ceremony and evening entertainment, and you don’t have to have played in the netball tournament to attend!
