On Sunday morning in Stirling on a near perfect running conditions day, Girvan AAC runner John Goodenough secured a new personal best over the 10k distance seeing him record 43:10.
John earlier in the season had ran 43:17 at a long course, and like other runners regarding the rules of racing had to accept that ‘long’ record.
Race times are not kept if the course was short but on Sunday’s performance he proved that his ‘long’ time wasn’t going be on his profile for much longer with a great run on a good course.
The course, which starts at Forthbank Stadium and heads out towards the Wallace Monument and turns to finish back at the stadium, is predominantly flat and fast and also saw local runner Kerry-Liam Wilson secure a six second PB to record a time of 31:29.
That was good enough for Kerry-Liam to successfully retain his Scottish Athletics Masters M40 title for the fourth year in succession! Also the team bronze medal was to follow for Kerry-Liam for his club Team Cambuslang.
