As the South Ayrshire schools football season starts, Girvan say goodbye and good luck to last year’s P7s.
But they also say hellp to a new crop of P6 players.
On Monday, november 2 Girvan played St patrick’s at Hamilton park in Girvan in a qualification game to decide which league they will go into later in the season. The score was a 3-3 draw.
In an energetic and exciting game Girvan opened the scoring courtesy of Calum McDowall.
Although Girvan dominated possession, confusion in defence led to St patrick’s equaliser five minutes later.
The second half displayed more end to end action but without any end product until St Patrick’s scored to put them ahead. A goal from Ross Windsor pulled Girvan back to level terms and a goal from Cameron Alcroft on his debut put the hosts ahead. However St Patrick’s equalised only three minutes later.
In a pulsating end to the match neither side could break the deadlock.
Although the score seemed a fair result Girvan did carry the greater attacking threat but a combination of careless finishing from Girvan and some excellent goalkeeping denied the three points for the hosts.
Well done to Cameron Alcroft, Cameron McGregor and Darren Campbell who played their debuts for the club.
Many thanks go to Mrs Crawford for helping to take the children to and from Hamilton Park and to the parents who turned up to support Girvan.
Girvan: Toby McGowan, Ronnie McFarlane, Scott Jaszewski, Calum McDowall, Ross Windsor, Honor Stewart-Fairbairn, Cameron Alcroft, Cameron McGregor and Darren Campbell.
