The Carrick Rugby Under 18s team have received a significant boost towards their plans for a tour of Italy next year.
Ayr based firm Drainklear have sponsored them to the tune of £750 whilst they have also been given £200 by James Craig of Craig Wilson Livestock Auctioneers.
And well known bus operator Keenan of Ayr have agreed to help transport the team to and from Edinburgh Airport.
Director of DrainKlear John Thomson said: “My foreman manager’s son plays in the team and brought in the sponsor sheet and it caught my eye.
“A lot of the engineers here are from the Carrick area and we just agreed to sponsor them.
“We initially agreed to sponsor them at the bronze level of £500 but decided to top that up with an extra £250 to help them out with travel, kits and accomodation.
“I’m keen to promote sport in the local community and this seemed like an ideal project to get involved in.
“I’ve also helped out the organisers by passing on contacts at the local authority to see if there is anyway they can get funding through there.”
The organisers of the trip would also like to say thanks to A.G Dunlop newsagents who are based in Girvan’s Dalrymple Street for being great supporters of the Carrick rugby team in general but they also carry out photcopying of quiz sheets and other items for the tour free of charge.
Organisers are hoping to finalise another sponsorship deal soon and are actively seeking deals all the time.
