Carrick Academy has enjoyed considerable sporting success over the years but session 2011-2012 must surely rank as one of the best ever, with outstanding success in a wide range of sports by both teams and individuals.

Maybole Community Councillors were so impressed and delighted that they wished to mark these achievements in some way.

A certificate to recognise sporting achievement was presented at the annual prizegiving ceremony in June and last week Mark Fletcher, Chair of the Community Council, presented a cheque for £250 to the school, to provide support for sporting activities in session 2012/13.

Pictured are Mark Fletcher presenting the cheque to Gordon Gregor (Rugby Captain and School Vice-Captain) and from left to right Adella McCulloch (Girls Rugby Captain and School Vice-Captain), Keith Webster (Head Teacher), Blair Cooper (Rugby Vice-Captain and School Captain), Peter Lynn (Community Council), Craig Davidson (Rugby Development Officer), Gordon Brown (PT Social Subjects and Head of Rugby) and Roy Birnie (Community Council).
