On Saturday, bowlers turned out to play in the Woodlands Farm Invitation Rinks at Girvan Bowling Club.
Nineteen rinks took part from across the district, including representation from the sponsors, Woodland Bay Hotel and Restaurant, everyone enjoying the round robin format in good weather.
The final was played out between the Girvan rink of Alistair Scobie, Tom Nardini, Drew McMillan and Billy McCulloch and the Portland Kilmarnock rink of Dougie Houston, Robert Little, John McColl and Cairns Henry, the Girvan rink skipped by Alistair coming out winners.
At the presentation, president Gary Milne thanked everyone involved in the organisation of what was a most enjoyable day, and wished to especially thank Alan and Michael Forbes of Woodland Farm for their generous sponsorship and active support of the event.
Members of Girvan Bowling Club took part in the J F Brown Memorial Triples competition on Sunday on a glorious summer day.
The final took place between the triples of Ian Ross, Moira McNair and Betty Johnston and Tom Getgood, John Scott and Eva Nisbet, the triple skipped by Ian Ross winning the trophy.
At the presentation, president Anne Cooper thanked all who helped on the day, especially Sylvia and Robin for their continued support of this competition.
Ballantrae Bowling Club held their Open Pairs on Saturday, sponsored by Scotmid Cooperative.
The winners on the day were R McIlwraith and G McIlwraith, and runners-up were C Agnew and J Bark.
Beaten semi-finalists were M Spiers and J Higgins and G Agnew and K Balfour.
The bowling club fun day event was won by James Farnes, Gordon Todd and Douglas McCreath. The next fun day is on Sunday, August 10, at 1.30pm. All are welcome, even if you have never bowled before, come along and give it a try.
