Ayr Roads CC/Harry Fairbairn BMW Sunday club run was blessed with a beautiful crisp Novembers day this week.
To take full advantage of the blue skies a south bound coastal route was chosen, where the riders could take in some of the crystal clear views over to the Mull of Kintyre and far beyond to Ireland. Ballantrae was the groups destination where upon a well earned re-fuel was taken before the return leg to Ayr.
With the road racing season well and truly finished, some of the Ayr Roads/Harry Fairbairn BMW riders have turned to cyclo-cross, which is an off-road discipline growing rapidly in popularity within the UK. T
he latest round of the Scottish Cyclo Cross series visited Strathclyde Park this weekend, where a fast and technical course put two Ayr Roads riders to the test. JP Baxter called time early halfway through the race with a broken chain, but Paul Gibson gave a strong performance in only his second Cyclo Cross event.
The on-set of winter also sees cyclists making good use of the fantastic facilities at the Velodrome in Glasgow, where they can enjoy training sessions, or racing, far removed from the Scottish elements outside. Alex McAllister and Calum Hume took part in the mid-week track league, with both managing solid performances in 60 laps of fast racing.
