Vale of Girvan marched through to the next round of the Scottish Amateur Cup after a hard fought 3-2 win over Drongan United on Saturday.
Vale took the lead at Victory Park on 26 minutes thanks to a stunning freekick from Bob Ashworth which left the visting sides goalkeeper with no chance.
Drongan were level two minutes into the second half when a header was flicked on and a nice finish beat the Vale Keeper.
However, Vale regained the lead ten minutes later when a corner to the back post was headed downwards by Darren Mitchell and it rose into the back of the net.
Ashworth was at it again on 77 minutes when a 25 yard free kick saw Drongan’s keeper get a hand to it but he couldn’t keep it out and Vale led 3-1.
A volley five minutes later ensured a nervy finish for Vale but they held on to ensure their place in the next round.
Vale are back in league action on Saturday as they head to Irvine to play Broomlands. Kick off at 2pm.
