Girvan runners Fraser Stirling and Kerry-Liam Wilson travelled through to Cumbernauld for the Scottish Athletics National Cross Country Relays last Saturday.
The event is the opening race for this winter’s cross country season and attracted a record number of entries.
Fraser running the second leg for Ayrseaforth and battled his way round the 2500 metres lap in a decent time of 9.12 which was fifth fastest lap recorded by an Under 15 athlete.
The set up for the young athletes was an Under 13 went off first,followed by an Under 15 and the third and last leg was an Under 17 so all teams were evenly balanced. Fraser who helped his team Ayrseaforth to victory in the Ayrshire cross country relays took his team from fourteenth place up to eighth place and the team ended up in eleventh place overall.
International Masters runner Kerry-Liam Wilson helped his club Team Cambuslang to first Masters team for a third successive year.
Kerry-Liam ran the third leg for the team and brought the team home in 26th place from 45th place with the team finishing overall in 27th place.
