Cats’ Corner

Did you know the South Ayrshire Branch can have around a dozen cats in our care at any given time?

As well as food and litter, every cat receives vaccinations, microchip, neutering, parasite treatment which costs the branch around £150 per cat. Many cats are coming into care needing additional treatment prior to rehoming such as dental work, for which prices start at around £100. Yet we only ask for £50 as an adoption fee. It’s not hard to see why there is a constant need for fundraising in order to help as many cats locally as we can. Our volunteers work around the clock at all aspects of cat care, which is why some very kind hearted individuals at Vets4pets Ayr and Pets at Home, Ayr have decide to throw themselves out of a plane in aid of our branch!

Sunday, October 4 is World Animal Day, and Donald, Natalie, Laura, Georgina, and Kirsty will be doing a tandem skydive at Paragon Skydiving Club in Perthsire. These very brave folks deserve some extra support to reach their sponsorship aim by next Sunday so if you would like to make a donation, simply text “VETS80 £3” to 70070. You can vary the amount to one of your choosing, and please do follow the instructions for gift aid if you are a UK tax payer as this increases the value of the donation at no extra cost to you, and means justgiving don’t deduct their fees from the donation itself. You can also donate online by visiting

Your donation stays local and goes fully towards the care of cats like Missie. This beautiful three-year old tortoiseshell female is looking for a home to call her own and comes with four weeks free pet insurance. If you would like to know more about her please contact our office on 03453 714216, which is manned by volunteers from around 10.30 to 1.30 most days, but any messages left on the answer machine will get responded to as soon as a volunteer is next available.
