Climb aboard the Waverley in Girvan

You can sail on the world’s last sea-going paddle steamer, the Waverley, from Girvan Harbour on Mondays on July 28, August 4 and 18th. The steamer which was built in 1947 leaves for Ailsa Craig at 4.15pm and returns at 8pm and you can return by coach from Ayr.

You can also board the Waverley from Ayr South Harbour to steam round Ailsa Craig every Monday from July 21 until August 18, leaving at 2.45pm and returning at 7pm.

The fares cost £21 with senior citizens costing £19.

Children under 18 go half price and under5s travel free.

Waverley has excellent onboard facilities including a restaurant serving hot and cold snacks, two bars, heated lounges, engine room, paddle wheel viewing gallery and a souvenir shop.
