A cheque for £450 has been presented to Pat McLellan, Chair of South Ayrshire Women’s Aid, by Councillors Sandra Goldie and Ann Galbraith, from the proceeds raised at the seventh annual Councillors’ Burns Supper, held earlier this month.

Councillor Galbraith, who also chairs the multi-agency partnership on violence against women said: “The Councillors’ Burns Supper has become a firm and favourite fixture in our diaries. Not only is it a fun evening celebrating the Bard, we take the fundraising side of it seriously and I’m delighted that South Ayrshire Womens’ Aid, one of the Provost’s nominated charities, is the beneficiary for 2014.”

Pat said: “It’s wonderful for South Ayrshire Women’s Aid to be recognised by the Councillors’ Burns Charity Supper and the money will allow us to do a wee bit extra for the children at the refuge this Easter.

“We’re already planning a few trips out and we’re looking forward to these with much excitement!”

Councillor Sandra Goldie who helped organise the charity supper with Councillor Alec Oattes said: “It was a great evening which has raised £450 which I know will be put to very good use.

“I would like to thank everyone who made the evening such a success and helped us raise funds for such a worthy charity.”
