Maybole’s Tia McLanaghan, aged 11, has raised around £1000 for Epilepsy Scotland and would like thank everyone who donated to this good cause.
The Cairn Primary pupil completed her 100 length sponsored swim in 1hr and 5mins and on her last length of the pool Andy Fulton piped her in with “Scotland the Brave”. Tia thought this was a fantastic gesture and would like to thank Andy as well.
When planning her swim, Tia said: “Nobody of my age seems to understand epilepsy or what it means.
“I remember when I was first diagnosed, it was like people at school didn’t want to come near me in case I had a seizure.
“I definitely think there should be more done to teach people about the condition.
“That’s why I’m doing a fundraiser to try and make people more aware.”
