Ayr Roads cycling take part in Pearl Izumi tour

  • by John Paul Baxter

The Pearl Izumi Tour is a 10 round series of criteriums that are held through May and June in various British city centres. Edinburgh was the venue for round six, where the UK’s top cycling teams would do battle through the cobbled streets of the old town.

Ayr Roads CC - Harry Fairbairn BMW - Sprockets.com had two riders partaking in the fast paced evening event, with Micheal Curran and Adam Stevens enjoying the fantastic atmosphere with big crowds lining the entire route. John Mould of NTFO Pro-Cycling took an impressive solo win, with Rapha Condor JLT maintaining their lead at the top of the team standings.

Four Ayr Roads riders contested the West Lothian Clarion 25 mile Time Trial on Sunday, with some impressive times to show for their efforts. Kenny Armstrong finished in 9th position with a 56:16, whilst Paul Gibson and Alistair McGibbon both posted times comfortably under the hour mark. Lynne Wardrop continues her good form by winning the ladies prize in a time of 1:04:09
