This week at Brunston actually started off at Port Patrick Golf Club where Dad’s Army had their annual outing. As well as the fantastic weather they all enjoyed the course and hospitality. Rory Boyle was the winner with Jim Herd in second place.
Wednesday the 23rd was the men’s yellow tee stableford with Sam Cochrane winning with 40 points. Richard Walker was second on countback from Allan McWilliam, both with 38 points.
The ladies had their 4 clubs plus putter competition which was delayed from while I was away. It was a close competition, with the countback going to the last three holes to decide the winner. Helena Menhinick was the eventual winner from Marie Logan.
The second round of the Howie Trophy was played on Saturday the 26th. The winner of the second round was John McPartlin with 71. Hugh Ward was second with 72. The overall trophy was won by Ronnie Mills who fought back on his last nine holes for a total of 141, beating Brian Edwards by a shot.
Continuing our summer of open competitions, but sadly not the good weather, was the ladies’ greensomes. Despite the bad weather the ladies played well and a fantastic score of 69 saw G McPherson and C Milroy win the trophy this year. L Cochrane and A Lawrence were second with 74. Thank you to all the ladies who played and I hope next year you get some of the summer sun.
