A Girvan netball team came out on top at a South Ayrshire Council Commonwealth Games tester event recently.
The event was run by the council’s active school team for primary school pupils in P6 and P7.
With support from the University of the West of Scotland and Ayrshire College, the event took place at the Citadel Leisure Centre and attracted a big entry – with pupils competing in teams, representing school clusters of Marr, Prestwick, Ayr, Kyle, Queen Margaret, Belmont, Carrick and Girvan.
Each school cluster team played 3 games, with each game lasting 10mins and it was the Girvan Cluster which netted first place – with Kyle second and Belmont third. Medals were also given to the Carrick cluster team for displaying the Commonwealth Games values of integrity, responsibility and endeavour.
The event also gave senior primary pupils an opportunity to meet and get to know other pupils in different schools.
